During the term of Bush Jr. or as i call him the " lesser Bush "
Oil companies were allowed to " SELF REGULATE "
Where government backed off and allowed oil companies to police themselves for the good of all
The effects were GREAT for the oil companies
However the results were death & destruction as a result of the BP / Transocean disaster
Under the Bush Self Regulating policy both BP & Transocean pushed beyond the limits of safety and compliance with nothing more than cost savings and profits in sight
BP & Transocean are not the only ones to have pushed the boundries of safety as far as they did
Many other offshore oil companies did the same but were lucky enough not to experience the disasterous results
Self Regulation basically gave the keys of the hen house to the fox and snake
Its time government increased their oversight of the offshore oil companies and service companies and forced them to operate by the rules in place to protect the people and the environment before we have none of either
